Edmonton Oilers Fall in Series Opener

Florida Wins 4-1 Behind Barkov's Heroics

Sunrise, FL - The Florida Panthers took the first game of the 2024 Stanley Cup Final with a narrow 4-1 victory over the Edmonton Oilers. Aleksander Barkov scored the game-winning goal and added an assist, while Sergei Bobrovsky made 32 saves for the Panthers.

The Panthers opened the scoring in the first period with a goal from Carter Verhaeghe, but the Oilers responded quickly with a goal from Evan Rodrigues. However, Florida regained the lead in the second period with a goal from Barkov, and they extended their lead in the third period with an empty-net goal from Anton Lundell.

The Panthers dominated the Oilers in shots on goal, outshooting them 36-25. Bobrovsky was solid in net for Florida, making several key saves throughout the game. Conversely, Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner struggled, allowing four goals on 32 shots.

Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final will be played in Sunrise, Florida on Saturday night.
